The Kitchen Unveiling

Despite Chad's urging to do so, I've been hesitant to unveil the new kitchen until it is just perfect.

Well, I've come to realize that it may be awhile before we find the tiles to match the broken ones we removed, so without further ado - here's our kitchen before...

And here's our beautiful kitchen after all our (and our amazing helpers) hard work!

Goodbye old electric range, hello gas!

Gotta love the built in cookbook holder!

The Backyard

Since we're nearly unpacked inside and the final touches on the interior projects are just about done, we decided to tackle the backyard this Labor Day weekend.  It's fitting we chose this weekend because it was nothing but "labor"!

We've loved the backyard since we first saw the house, but mostly because through the weeds, overgrown trees, and beyond the hideous "greenhouse" in the back we can see some real potential.  We still have a lot to do, but this weekend we got a great start!  We trimmed back the overgrown trees and ripped out plants that were probably once really nice, but they were now out of control.

We're trying out something new this time - so watch the little video below for before and afters!

Hope you had a great Labor Day holiday!

Until next time ~ Meghan & Chad

Move to the new house.. check!

Our apologies for the delay in updating the blog, once again we've been so busy, we haven't had a minute to spare for an update! But, we put it at the top of our to-do list today, so here it goes...

Chloe loves "her" bed!
After a solid month of visiting the house everyday after work and all-day every weekend, we finally took the leap and decided to move our stuff in.  Moving during the last weekend in August could have been a nightmare, but Mother Nature was good to us and gave us overcast skies and a cool breeze.  Thanks to Andy and Chelsea Eckley, Amanda Dwyer, Justin Freeman, my sister Amy and my dad and both of Chad's parents - it went really quickly and relatively painlessly (though I did have to administer a band aid to Chad's dad!).

Roxy plots her escape
Now that everything is in one place, we're working finding homes for all our stuff.  We've definitely got some duplicates of things, so stay tuned for news on an upcoming garage sale!

We're about a week in now and things are coming along nicely.  The cats are getting settled; the boxes are diminishing and the toys have just about filled the garage.

That's not to say that the projects have come to a halt, because that couldn't be further from the truth!  I've been unpacking the endless sea of boxes; meanwhile, Chad's been taking on some pretty serious projects (including one's that are often left to trained professionals).  This week he has...

- Fixed the leaking plumbing under the bathroom sink;
- Installed new lights in the kitchen;
- Repaired a wobbly ceiling fan;
- Replaced the screen door;
- And as I type, he's diagnosing a mysteriously dead electrical outlet (I'm also praying for his safety as I type)

To quote Chad, he's "one handy-man"... and I'm lucky to have him.

Lots of other progress has been made around the house, especially in the kitchen.  You'll be amazed by how great it looks.  I couldn't be more proud of us!  The final touches are being made in there this weekend and we promise an update when it's all done!

Until next time ~ Meghan & Chad
